Cmw Idwal
What an incredible day this was at the Cmw (Valley) of Idwal. This stunning valley sits high above the Ogwen Valley and owes much of its amazing scenery to glaciation!
This place was high on my list when visiting Snowdonia but I knew that with it being high up in the valley the direction of the sun this time of year would mean I wouldn’t get much of a sunrise or sunset here so I waited for some clouds to show and began to venture up!
We walked round the lake facing on to what is known as the devils kitchen which is an incredible view but the lake wasn’t still at this point so we kept exploring when I spotted this lone tree a bit higher up in the valley which gave a much grander view of the entire valley, it was absolutely incredible!😱
I composed this scene, waited and hoped for some light when I couldn’t believe my luck when everything came together! The clouds rolled in, the lake became completely still and the light came through and lit up the trees and the distant mountain of Pen Yr Ole Wen it was absolutely stunning - what a day!!😍
